01 — Overview

What Arcesium does

Arcesium was built from a specific institutional lineage: the platform originated from technology developed and tested within the D. E. Shaw group, with Blackstone Alternative Asset Management as an early seed client and anchor user. J.P. Morgan later made a strategic investment after adopting the platform for its hedge fund administration business. That origin shapes the product's depth. The data models, reconciliation logic, and operational workflows reflect decades of multi-strategy complexity, not a generic fintech build.

For investment operations teams managing private markets allocations, Arcesium addresses a specific operational pain point: the cost and risk of maintaining accurate, auditable data across fragmented sources. Its Aquata data platform ships with over 350 pre-built data models and more than 10,000 data attributes covering reference data, securities, accounting, treasury, performance, and sustainability. The platform supports both public and private asset modeling within the same environment, including private credit, private equity, real estate, and infrastructure.

Key capabilities relevant to institutional investors and their operations teams include:

  • Automated NAV oversight with top-down reconciliation and shadow NAV functionality
  • Data lineage tools with bitemporal modeling to support regulatory audits and LP transparency
  • Aquata Marketplace with pre-configured connectors to over 20 external partners, including OMS, risk platforms, fund administrators, and lending platforms
  • Regulatory reporting automation, including support for SEC Form PF filings
  • AI Copilot and Model Context Protocol server for agentic workflow configuration

Arcesium's primary market is institutional: hedge funds, asset managers, fund administrators, and capital markets firms. Family offices or private wealth teams running institutional-scale operations in alternatives may find the platform relevant, but the firm does not appear to target SFOs or MFOs as a primary buyer segment. Pricing is not publicly disclosed.

Building on a platform developed and tested by the D. E. Shaw group, we received additional equity backing from a second seed client, Blackstone Alternative Asset Management. J.P. Morgan, an early adopter of our technologies, later made a strategic investment in the company.
